ASNH Awards at State Science Fair

             Hamden, CT - Students from Middle and High Schools throughout Connecticut meet at Hamden's Quinnipiac University to see who has the best science exhibit in the state

Wednesday March 12th ASNH members (STARS(Support Towards Astronomy Related Studies ) chariperson) Paul Hyndman, Dave Johnson, and Greg Barker became "Special Awards" judges and set out to find three winners.

The winners we found were awarded on Saturday March 15 at the Alumni Hall of Quinnipiac University

  • Laura van Dyck of Amity Regional High School, Woodbridge was awarded $200.00 for her exhibit on "Using Color-Magnitude Diagrams to Study Open Star Clusters: Analysis of Stellar Evolution and Distance"
  • Edwin M. Pabon of Hyde Leadership School, New Haven was awarded $175.00 for his exhibit on "Holmes Activity"
  • Thomas Mattessich of Amity Regional High School, Woodbridge was awarded $150.00 for his exhibit on "The Ultraviolet Properties of Supernovae Host Galaxies"
  • Al Washburn,Thomas Mattessich, Laura van Dyck, Edwin M. Pabon and Greg Barker
