Wow! What a breathtaking object! Omega Centauri is one of the largest globular clusters in the sky and one of our southernmost visible objects. It's is now available to New England Astronomers!

Check your planetarium software for specifics, but as TheSky6 shows it early in April NGC 5139 (Omega Centauri) will be visible a couple of degrees above our horizon at about 1am. As the month progresses viewing will move to a more reasonable 10pm timeframe and carry through into May. You will still be able to get views (if you find a dark horizon viewing spot) into the following weeks, but it appears April and May will be the best. Get out there and VIEW!
