Hammonasset Event
Visitors to the Meg’s Point Nature Center at Hammonasset State Park were greeted at 10 am, Saturday, May 10th, to a special presentation of the ASNH’s meteorite collection, sponsored by the “Friends of Hammonasset” organization. A short greeting by Ranger Russ Miller led to an introduction on the topic of meteorites which was followed by a “meteorite crater drop box” investigation. After the drop box was a Powerpoint describing the different types of meteorites. Finally came the opportunity to hold and ask questions about the samples. Thirty-four enthusiastic adults and children were in attendance. The session ended around 11:30 am.
